Story
The Gauri Heart Centre is a state-of-the-art medical facility that provides comprehensive cardiac care to patients from all walks of life. It was established with the goal of providing high-quality healthcare services to those in need and has quickly become a leading provider of cardiac care in the region. The centre is named after Dr. Upendra Kaul's late mother, Gauri Kaul, who was a strong and compassionate woman who dedicated her life to helping others.
About Mrs Gauri Kaul
The sister of Professor P. N. Dhar, a renowned economist and former principal secretary to Mrs. Indira Gandhi, was married into a family of shopkeepers in Pulwama. Her husband, Prem Nath Kaul, studied law in Lucknow and found employment in Delhi in 1950, working for an insurance company.
She would spend three months each year in Srinagar, where she felt more at home than in Delhi, and was deeply devoted to watching DD Kashir in her later years. Known for her sharp memory, analytical mind, and ability to recite Kashmiri poetry, she spent many hours with the late Professor Aga Ashraf Ali, providing him with valuable information for his books on Kashmir.
She is survived by two sons, Upendra Kaul, a cardiologist, and Shankar Kaul, a senior executive for the medical device company, Baxter, in Singapore. Her two brothers, Professor P. N. Dhar and Sh. B. L. Dhar, her husband, and her grandchildren are all doing well. She passed away on June 13, 2011, at 8 a.m., with Upendra by her side.
